EPA-Certified Lead Renovator Training | EPA Lead Classes
EPA-Certified Lead Renovator Training course. This course was developed to train inspectors and contractors how to work safely in housing with lead-based paint and comply with EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule and HUD’s Lead Safe Housing Rule.
Federal law requires renovation firms (including sole proprietorships) to be certified and requires individuals to be trained in the use of lead-safe work practices. To become certified, renovation contractors must submit an application and fee payment to EPA or to the state if you work in one of the states authorized to run their own RRP programs. Individuals wishing to become certified renovators must take training from an EPA-accredited training provider. EPA Approved Lead Renovator Course.
In addition, renovation firms must be certified by EPA or by a state authorized by EPA to administer its own program. Firm certification is easy. Firms need to send in a two-page application to EPA and pay a fee of $300 to the EPA. EPA certification is good for 5 years.
